Celebrating Non-Scale Victories! 🥳

REGULAR MACRO DAY

 

Weekly affirmation: “This week I will choose to trust the process, trust my coach and trust myself. I believe that my journey is a marathon and not a sprint. I am doing good things for my mind and my body every day. I am becoming the very best version of myself.”

 

It’s Friday, friends and you know what that means - today we get to celebrate our weekly wins! 🎉

Remember our one stipulation: Your weekly win can not be scale related. I know there are some of you who have scale-related victories and while I will always be proud of all of your wins, it's important to understand that a number on a scale doesn’t trump the other indicators of your health. The scale can not tell us what is going on internally. It doesn't tell us anything about our gut health. It doesn't tell us how much water we are retaining or our muscle to fat ratio. It doesn't tell us if our cells are healthy or if our hormones are regulated. A lower number on the scale doesn't necessarily mean "healthy". It could be quite the opposite for that matter. When you start believing that this journey is about your overall health instead of about your weight, the game CHANGES. 💥 The scale simply gives us a very vague number that combines a whole-buncha-unknowns.  I don't know about you but that isn't good enough for me and it shouldn't be for you, either.

 

So today we will celebrate non-scale victories! 🎉 Maybe your jeans feel a little looser. Maybe your rings are too big now because even your fingers are smaller. Maybe you discovered a new wrinkle because your face is smaller (I mean, it's totally still a win 😉). Or maybe your NSV doesn't have anything to do with your size. Maybe you chose more whole foods this week as opposed to processed foods. Maybe you drank more water than usual. Maybe you pushed yourself in your workouts. Maybe you had a positive mindset shift. It's important to recognize them all, regardless of whether or not they're related to the aesthetic component of your journey! At the end of the day, our health journey has very little to do with our appearance and the scale and everything to do with the smaller things that make up our non-scale victories!

I want to look into this a little deeper and discuss the importance of celebrating small wins! Listen, friends - small wins count. I would almost be willing to bet that small wins are much more effective than huge wins. Here's why - we are more likely to stick with making small changes than big, overwhelming changes. Oftentimes, we try and overhaul everything at one time and this leads to overwhelm and burnout. We don't want either of those, especially when we are learning. I want you to progress as slowly as you need to in order to make good, lifelong habits. It doesn't matter how slowly you progress as long as you're moving forward. That’s all that matters! 💯
